Katy Berry is a NYC-based writer, filmmaker and comedian who believes she hasn’t done a good show unless she’s peed her pants juuuust a little. She’s graced the stages of prestigious venues all over the country, breaking chairs and whipping her boobs out, both totally unnecessary in an improv show but, honestly? Worth it. As a writer and filmmaker, Katy’s work vibrates with glittery rage, bracing honesty, and radical joy. Her coming-of-age script, POPCORN, is a millennial reckoning fueled by Victoria’s Secret, emotionally inept father figures, and the gaping, emotional wounds reopened by the MeToo movement. After the script was selected for the 2020 Black List X Women in Film Feature Residency, Katy doubled down and created her Edinburgh Fringe show, Diamond Goddess Crystal Pussy, in which she relives the fifth-grade sleepover where she tried to moon everyone and accidentally exposed her entire butthole. Whiplashing off that last sentence, Katy’s also an enthusiastic educator. Determined to create a safe space for young weirdos like herself, Katy was a Senior Instructor of Screenwriting at New York Film Academy and created the curriculum for Brooklyn Comedy Collective’s Musical Improv Program. She continues to teach improv at festivals and schools globally, and is proud to be currently earning her MFA in Screenwriting at UC Riverside. These days, Katy’s busy developing a Magic School Bus parody musical (Seatbelts, Kids!), and an ensemble comedy feature (The Last First Show) to direct in 2027. You can catch her live with musical improv teams Baby Wants Candy and Shitzprobe.
